Golmaal hai bhai sab golmaal hai

Yesterday we all went to watch Golmaal Returns & after a long time I had FUN watching a hindi movie. You could put it in the category of Singh is Kinng [hope the number of S’s, I’s & N’s are correct πŸ™‚ ] but the fun quotient was way higher. While SIK was funny, the humor felt forced. In GR, it was fully stomach-aching-laugh funny. The plot was very light & just seemed to fall in to place.
There are many differences from the original Golmaal [from original I dont mean the 90’s wala]. Rimi Sen was replaced by Kareena Kapoor, Celeina Jaitley, Amrita Arora & another actress who I have seen for the first time. Shreyas Talpade for Sherman Joshi was equally fun & did not feel odd. Also the relationship between the characters was also different.
Ajay & Tusshar are bro-in-laws, Arashad & Ajay are Enemies, Talpade is employed by Ajay. The movie does taang kheeche of many movies/serials esp. as tushaar is there. There is a scene where Devgan is hadkaoing Kareena & does so by quoting almost all the movies he has worked in. I would recommend it just as it is paisa vasool, dont expect something big, sit back & enjoy.

The other movie I had watched was Heroes, a couple of days back. It was a semi-patriotic inspirational movie, presenting the life of the Indian soldier’s family. For the first time I liked Sohail Khan’s acting. Maybe his weird face or his voice…something makes him endearing as the Saand. Priety’s story was the most touching, but Sunny Deol & Mithun Da’s story was portrayed in a very dull fashion. Over all it was an average watch, nothing much to write about.

Diwali Photos

OK try as I might I cannot get my google photos album to appear on wordpress…& after looking up the problem online I have realised that WP does not allow it, for some security reason.

So as long as the problem persists its going to be links

So here its is:

Happy Diwali to all of you!! Just for today try to forget all the possible worries- the sensex crashing like a rogue rocket, the falling rupee, the communal clash in Bihar & Maharashtra etcetera etcetra-& try to enjoy today.

I had slept quite late, around 5am[a couple of good movies were being played in a row & you know I never miss a good movie], so got up at around 10. Guests/Visitors have started arriving to meet mum & pa…who is not here. Its tuesday & he has to stay with Madam Mayawati 😦 .
Update:She gave him the day off for diwali *yay* πŸ˜€

Yesterday was Non-Veg day:Had Biyani, Mutton & Tandoori Chicken
Today -Dal maakhni, Bhendi & puri. Raghav had made such a hype about dal makhni that I pulled a recipe of the net for mum to cook.

Am in super relaxation mode…not budging an inch from the house [something that has been irritating aastha to no end :)]. Mum has baked a second batch of of her so-very-awesome-cake, vanilla icecream is already here…will continue my blissful period of eating homemade brownies for dessert.

Today had to go out for shopping, it being Dhanteras & all. Mum & Aastha were doing the diwali shopping, me & pa were bored so here are some random pics from our outing.
Rows of shops. Bought diyas, gharaunda stuff etc.
Happy shoppers!

Mum bought a new toaster & is dumping the old crappy one on me to take to pune…chalo atleast wahan ab toast toh milega!

Looking forward to tuesday.

chez moi!

Got home yesterday. A lot happened during the duration of my travel. Raj Thackery was arrested [& again released on bail or whatever], the expected violence in Maharashtra, curfew in pune, burning of stuff all over & general chaos. Why isin?t MNS declared a terrorist group like SIMI? Afterall it seems to be their business-terrorize. Ban them & be done with it.

Anyway moving away from morbid subjects, reached home on time [yippe :)]. Left for Nashik at 6:30. This time I was awake when crossing the ghats, they were beautiful. Trees & huts all look small as if you could just pluck them up!! dsc00548.jpg
Reached at Nashik at 11:30 [amid some thackery?s lackey tamasha], got on the train at 12 & was home by 9:20am the next day.

Had Palak paneer + Bhindi for lunch yesterday…revitalizing the body after the aalo eating spree we had in pune. Dinner was supposed to consist of fish & rice, but the fish was HOT. Not the sizzling kind, but fire-from-ears, water-from-nose/eyes type. First time I experienced kaan se dhuaan effects 😦 . Packets of frooti saved me from cutting of my burning tongue.

Its 10am now & am sitting on my terrace swing with my doggie & admiring the viewdsc00580.jpg

& listening to Home [Foo Fighters-echoes, silence, patience & grace] on papa?s iPod touch :D. Very cool!!!
Anybody know how one can apply for Apple dealership? πŸ˜‰

Chalo behen ko pareshaan karne ka time aa gaya!!
More later…

So excited!!Bags packed, cant sleep. Have to leave at 6am & its now 2:55am.
Kuch karne ko toh hai nahi so have put steve Jobs Keynote speech foe streaming. Its an hour long, lets see kitna dekh pata hun.

see you…in lucknow!! πŸ˜€

Close shave Mamu!!!

In the past week I have been breaking the law, quite freely at that. Now before any of you break into a tizzy & call the cops or more disturbingly the MNS, its nothing BIG [by BIG I mean something along the lines of murder/robbery ]. I & other fellow indians [should it be capital indian have a capital I?] have been doing it for quite sometime & with impunity. What is it?Entry into a one way road. I am writing this post because I have been having really close shaves with the traffic police/mamus in the past week.

Now as compared to others, I am a stickler for rules or rather civic sense.

-I am very punctual, if I say i?ll be there 8, then it mean 8[my friends will vouch for that].
-I dont throw stuff on the road, I keep it with me 7 drop it in a bin. If I dont find one [which is usually the case], it comes with me to my flat & then gets binned.
-I stop at redlights, BEHIND the zebra crossing.
-I dont start blowing the horn at the intersection as soon as it turns the signal green. No unnecessary honking at all.

Then why do I do the one way thingie? Well its just that, they are shorter. I know that it might not seem to be much, but if you continuously ply over the same route daily, again & again, it slowly starts eating you until you start feeling foolish for not taking the shorter path.

The places where I had the close shaves.
Symbol index:
-Red circle black arrow:direction of travel not allowed
-Blue patch, blue arrow:Location of mamu to stop erring drivers

1)Aigaa Crossing

As you can see, you can go into the road turning right, but not come out from that road. Anybody coming out from the road is caught by the mamu.

The mamus usually stand somewhere behind the bunch of ppl in the pic, hidden behind some trees ready to pounce

Turn right & you are done for!!

So far I have been lucky & not been caught. Either I spot them [just…] & dont make the turn, or ppl/commuters coming towards me warn me[there is a unity against mamus :)]
Hope my luck continues.
And hope that PMC does not read this or I will be fined online. That would be one for the books πŸ˜€

Breaking Windows :)

Some fun images & quotes I got(Disclamer:No Malice intended, just for laughs. Sources put in wherever possible)mac-copy.gif

Happy Birthday dost

This post is just to wish Abhishek a very happy birthday.
This guy has been my best friend since class 9, from La Matiniere. Happy Birthday Dude, Enjoy.
& party due hai!!!

This is so not fair….

Apple has released the updated version of the MacBooks…Its a third major change in the span of one year.
1)Move to Intel:Rosetta[late of 2007]
2)Rosetta to Penryn [early 2008]
3)Aluminum Macs [late 2008]
When I got my Macbook i was glad I was glad I had the latest…& now in a month t has become old news. The whole thing costed me around $1400 then. Now you can get the sexier, meaner, lighter version for the same price:(
-Aluminum Body
-Glossy LED display
-NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics processor with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM
-Even huger multifunction glass trackpad, now buttonless!!

The Aluminum body looks superb , but the black coloured display panel was not much to my liking….reminds me of the regular HP laptops *BORING*. But maybe my opinion will change once I have seen them in the flesh….er…metal.

Apart from my selfish anger, I am really happy for apple. They have introduced an under $1000 MacBook which will surely increase its market share, the variety in the notebook section is long overdue.

Just wish it had been a bit later…say the next year. Hell if I am wishing I might as well wish for this change to have come before I had gotten my MacBook…

Kidnap?Bah!Kids take a nap…

Saw a movie on a theatre after like six months…& it was a total waste of money. From now I am sticking to DVD’s / CD’s [except for Quantum of Solace maybe…]
Take my advice & let this movie be. I guess I am lucky that I did not choose to watch Drona. Bunch of friends went for it and named it “D Rona”

Instead watch “In Bruges”
Its a comedy/crime/assasination/drama.
Though you may think how all the above fit together, they just do. Colin Farrell & Brendan Gleeson in their British accent are absolutely hilarious & the movie has fitting ending..poetic justice as it were.
The pseudo-duel between Farrell & Ralph Fiennes in the Bed & Breakfast is too good. Watch it…its brilliant

Plot outline:Bruges, the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, is a welcoming destination for travellers from all over the world. But for hit men Ray and Ken, it could be their final destination; a difficult job has resulted in the pair being ordered right before Christmas by their London boss Harry to go and cool their heels in the storybook Flemish city for a couple of weeks. Very much out of place amidst the gothic architecture, canals, and cobbled streets, the two hit men fill their days living the lives of tourists. Ray, still haunted by the bloodshed in London, hates the place, while Ken, even as he keeps a fatherly eye on Ray’s often profanely funny exploits, finds his mind and soul being expanded by the beauty and serenity of the city. But the longer they stay waiting for Harry’s call, the more surreal their experience becomes, as they find themselves in weird encounters with locals, tourists, violent medieval art, a dwarf American actor shooting a European art film, Dutch prostitutes, and a potential romance for Ray in the form of Chlo, who may have some dark secrets of her own. And when the call from Harry does finally come, Ken and Ray’s vacation becomes a life-and-death struggle of darkly comic proportions and surprisingly emotional consequences.

The third installment of the Inheritance Cycle is finally out [actually came out on 20th Sep..I came to know about it today πŸ™‚ ] & the story has still not ended. Thankfully, Paolini has said that the fourth book will conclude the series. I loved the previous two books-Eragon & Eldest, waiting to get the book from somewhere. Padhi toh bataounga …
P.S-The guy is only 25yrs old!!

Cena@Sinhagad Fort

This time the Sinhagad plan did work out, though not exactly the way I had expected it to. Hemant fell asleep, after staying up till 4:30am & so did not come along with us. Anuj, Raghav & Me decided that what the hell, we are already up…might as well make the best of it.

So we got ready & left at 5:30. I picked up my camera from Prashant [which went dead as the cells were not charged]& we went to Nal Stop to have some breakfast…well not exactly, I had pakoras πŸ™‚ topped up on fuel & were on our way.

What we expected:
1.Long, cold ride
2.Beautiful scenery
3.Bad Roads
4.Reach fort, park , sightsee, eat
5.Back by 9 AM tops

What occurred
1.Long, cold ride
2.Beautiful scenery
3.Bad Roads
4.Reached the foot hill of the fort, parked, CLIMBED to the fort, got nothing to see, only drink
5.Back by 1PM

Nobody had told us, but there were 2 ways to the fort
a)Drive to the Gate
b)Climb up the hill to reach the gate

making a newbie/dummy/idiotic mistake we chose (b)

It took us more than 1.5 hrs to get to the top…reached the gate around 9 AM. I was dead way before that…anuj’s prodding [& my ipod] kept me going. In 45 mins my legs were dead & I was literally hauling myself up the pagdandi using my hands. I am surprised that my heart did not burst..

Basically I think we were not prepared [mentally/physically/equipment wise]. We had expected to have an easy fun morning instead it turned out to be hell.
When we started off it was cool, nice crisp morning with greenery all around. In half an hour it had become HOT, the sun was constantly in our faces, path became steeper, we had no caps/water & the whole place had become burning yellow courtesy the bright sun. Also please remember that anuj & I had not slept….& as I am not used to eating in the morning & certainly not at 5 am, my stomach was acting up. We bought like 10 glasses of β€œlimbu sharbat” from the stands along the way[how they setup there, I have no idea]…& that added to my stomach woes, the sloshing liquid made me want to throw up

Anyway, we did climb to the top..& anuj was was right…it felt good…satisfying actually. There was nothing much to see really, the β€œfort” [double quotes intentional] was basically a fortification having a TV transmission tower. Only relics of the fort were a stable & some sort of room. We just sat in the canteen type place & cooled off…

Climbing down was no walk in the park either…my legs were shaking & my nikes had been ripped off. We started taking shortcuts [instead of going in the sweeping snakelike path we cut straight across ] but raghav started slipping & falling so we had to slow down. If the climbup was tiring, going down was plain boring.

n the end…we just wanted it to end. Finally we reached our bikes, I sent up a prayer of the thanks to the almighty & we slumped over the bikes too tired to speak. 15 mins later we bade farewell to the hill & started our return journey.

Aftereffects: Its been 2 days. My thighs & calfs[or is it calves??] still burn when I walk. Climbing up/down stairs is hell [I look like donald duck waddling]. Even my shoulders ache, but maybe thats just because my mattress is crap & I have a bad sleeping posture.

All in all it was an experience…good, bad…cant decide.
